
On January 20, with the completion of the 859-meter culvert reconstruction at the Xi’an Railway Station section, the water system of the Xi’an city moat in Shaanxi province was fully connected for the first time in more than 70 years. This millennium-old water system, initially excavated in the late Tang Dynasty and finalized during the Ming Dynasty, has now formed a complete loop, restoring the historic scene of “the city embraced by rivers and surrounded by clear waters” in the ancient city of Xi’an.
